Greetings and Welcome to Krog.org!

This site is intended to be the central source for people doing genealogical research on the Krog family. It will also have information on some other famlies that I am connected to including Thompson, Davies, Jones, Wiebe, and Moore.

One of the main areas of the site now under development is a Krog Family Tree showing Krog ancestors going back at least as far as Hans Krog (1690-1770). Hans was a Royal Game Warden in Denmark. He married his wife Bergitte Margrete Frost in 1714. Something interesting that I just learned is that Hans and Bergitte's eldest child was a daughter named Christiane Charlotte Louise Krog. Christiane married Hans Hansen Ravn, but some of their children used the Krog surname, and others used Ravn. If they had been more traditional and taken the father's name, you might now be visiting www.Ravn.org right now! I'm going to research more details about this and other interesting Krog stories so that I can share them with the rest of the family.

Another notable Krog ancestor was Jens Christian Hansen Krog, great great grandson of Hans Krog who left the ancestral home at Stubbum, Aller, Haderslev, Denmark and emigrated to the United States in 1886. His wife was Thora Eduline Lund. They were married June 1887 in Lake Benton, Minnesota. I also have records of Thora's lineage going back five generations and will add this information to the site. Jens and Thora were my great grandparents. The first of of their 10 children was Johan Peter Krog (1888-1970) who was the father of Norman Eiler Krog (1917-1990), who was my wonderful dad. Norman married my mother, Helen Mary Davis (she's wonderful too -- Hi Mom!). Helen is Welsh through-and-through and so I will include information about my Welsh ancestors as well.

As I have explored my family tree, I was amazed to find just how many different surnames there are among my ancestors and relatives. Besides Krog, here are a few other surnames that you will find referenced here: Bisballe, Bodsdatter, Bonnichsen, Christensen, Davies, Davis, Fogt, Frost, Hiendredsdatter, Holm, Jensen, Knudsen, Lauritzen, Lund, Marck, Marcusdatter, Marcussen, Michelsdatter, Moore, Morien, Mullen, Nielsdatter, Petersdatter, Ravn, Roos, Sharp, Simonsen, Smith, Taylor, Thomsen, Thygesen, and Wiebe.

I'd like to add pictures and stories about deceased relatives to the site. For privacy reasons I will not post dates or other information about living relatives (other than given names) unless I get individual permission. The genealogy database that I am using to build the Krog Family Tree is kept offline on a laptop. I export my data from the database and strip out details about living relatives before converting the data into HTML pages and posting them to the site. I currently have close to 100 people entered, but am going to get a few more names entered and dates researched before I publish the tree on the web.
